🌱 May We Revolve: A Month of Revolution on the Mat (and Beyond)

Hi friends,

May has always been my favorite month. Yes, it’s my birth month (cosmic birthday wishes and offerings of Diet Coke and Oreo cake are welcome), but it’s more than that. May is when spring stops tiptoeing and fully announces herself. The flowers are blooming. The birds are back at the feeders. The bees? They’re boldly investigating my sugary drinks while I snack on the patio.

It’s like the whole world is stretching awake, and honestly? I’ve been feeling that too.

But this isn’t just your average seasonal refresh. It feels bigger than that.
It feels like a revolution.

Now before you panic, I don’t mean “burn it all down”…
(Though, if I’m being honest, I kind of do mean burn it all down.)

But truly, I’m talking about a deeper, spiraling return to truth. A turning. A remembering. A shedding of what no longer serves — so we can step into what actually does.

Let’s be real:
We can’t keep going the way we have been.
Not in our environment.
Not in our systems.
Not in our bodies.

And that’s why this May, I’m calling in Revolution as the theme of every class I teach — with revolved poses as our peak.

That means twists. Spirals. Shapes that challenge us to expand, to create space, and to quite literally see things differently. You might feel like you’re being turned inside out. You might feel like things are coming loose.

Good.

Because revolution isn’t just political. It’s also yogic. Twists demand presence, honesty, and expansion. They call us to grow — to lengthen through the spine — before we rotate. And they remind us that transformation doesn’t come from force. It comes from intention. From breath. From staying in the discomfort long enough to move through it.

This month, we’re not just practicing poses.
We’re practicing liberation — for ourselves, for each other, and for the world we want to live in.

We'll move. We'll breathe. We’ll twist toward truth.
Let’s revolt — with grace, grit, and community.

With breath and rebellion,
Aza
